           HIKE TO SODALITE BEACH

Object of desire: a superb, gemmy sodalite specimen, glowing brilliant orange
under longwave ultraviolet. Specimen width 10 cm.

Barbeque grill covers come in handy.. not only for inspecting fluorescent minerals in darkness, but for keeping dry
on rainy days. Like today. This locale was a bust. We soon hike from here to beyond that distant point of land.

Onwards. Hiking to sodalite beach. In the drizzle.

Finally, we reach 'sodalite beach', and make our way upslope.

From a particularly choice sodalite find, the view towards sodalite beach below.

Today's haul: Extremely fluorescent yellow and green (daylight color) sodalite.

We make good our escape. Sodalite beach, and the drizzle, is behind us now.
