           KANGERLUARSUK

My goal: Classic, exceedingly complex fluorescent specimen, from the head of the Kangerluarsuk fjord.
Such specimens have only been found here. Shown glowing under shortwave ultraviolet light. Width 6 cm.

It's wet out. A rivulet spills from the northern boundary between basement rocks (brown)
and the syenites of the Ilímaussaq complex (gray).

Nearing our destination, Lee and Mark both manage smiles.

Land's end: View of the Lille elv from the head of Kangerluarsuk. We will camp and explore on this plain.

Camp Kangerluarsuk. And, you guessed it, it's raining.

View from camp back down Kangerluarsuk fjord. The low-lying rocky
islet left of center is Qeqertaussaq, another famous mineral locale.

The author, and across Kangerluarsuk fjord, the famous layered kakortokites.

Huge sprays of the unusual amphibole arfvedsonite. US dime coin for scale.

Leaving Kangerluarsuk. One last view of this splendid collecting locale. The Lille elv still running strong.
