THE TRIP - Background

Our trip was organized by Mark Cole and his partner in Greenland, Peter Lindberg. They'd run a trial excursion the previous year, after some initial exploration the summer before that.

This will be the longest trip yet. I’ll spend 10 days on the ground in Greenland, Mark a few days more, and three others will join for a week.

I’ve planned my visit for more than a year, whiling away the time reading geological reports and studying specimens from previous trips; becoming as familiar with the locale and its minerals as I can.

Summer—the only time it’s possible to field collect in Greenland—arrives at last. And I am keen to finally get there.
